Princess Diana's old London Building apartment goes on the market for 3 million pounds
"Prostitutes and Australians. Isn't that the kind of people who live in Earls Court?" In The Crown, when the Queen said that Diana Spencer lived in the West London neighborhood, the fictional Princess Margaret said.
Needless to say, this quote does not paint the late Margaret in a good light, but if she had actually said something to that effect, she certainly would not say it today.
Not only is Earls Court generally a rather swanky neighborhood these days, but the simple fact that the legendary Princess Diana once lived here gives it unparalleled value.
At the age of 18, Princess Diana bought a three-bedroom apartment in the Coleharn Court building in Redcliffe Gardens and rented the extra bedroom to three friends for £18 per week, where she lived for two years before marrying Prince Charles. 7] When English Heritage announced that a commemorative blue plaque would be placed on the building in 2021, Charles Spencer, Diana's brother, tweeted, " How wonderful that this blue plaque will be installed outside Cole Haan Court."
Thank you, @EnglishHeritage, for commemorating a very happy place for Diana in this way.
If you too would like to spend some happy hours at Earls Court, the Telegraph reports that a three-bedroom apartment identical to Princess Diana's is for sale at Cole Harn Court. However, you need to have 3.15 million pounds to spare.
In 1979, Diana put a deposit of £50,000 on the house, money she inherited from her great-grandmother. However, just because she was the landlord did not mean that she let the tenants do all the dirty work in the apartment. [Tina Brown writes in The Diana Chronicle (opens in new tab), "She set herself up for cleaning duty and was known to get up and clear the table before the meal was over rather than endure the sight of dirty dishes."
