Princess Charlotte presents her parents with a soccer shirt on their visit to Scotland.
Princess Charlotte is already as athletic as her mother: tennis, ballet, horseback riding, gymnastics, and many other after-school lessons. [According to Town & Country, the just-turned-7-year-old royal is also known for kicking a soccer ball.
So the latest gift from a royal fan via Prince William was especially well-chosen. When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the Heart of Midlothian Football Club in Edinburgh on their second day in Scotland, the staff presented him with three small burgundy soccer jerseys.
The top one, the one pictured, was inscribed with Charlotte's name and age. Of course, Prince George and Prince Louis also received their own jerseys. Charlotte's jersey also drew a lot of attention because, sadly, it is not yet commonplace for girls to participate in sports.
In a video of the exchange published by Newsweek magazine, the Duke can be seen laughing when he notices Charlotte's name on the jersey.
The staff then says:" I told you we don't have a Scottish team... ". Frankly, after that wonderful gift, I think the Duke has no choice but to become a Heart of Midlothian fan.
The royals visited the football club to learn about the Changing Rooms program initiated by SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health), which promotes the mental health and wellbeing of men in soccer.
On Instagram, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrote, "@heartofmidlothianfc in Scotland, hearing about the innovative football project 'Changing Room' this # MentalHealthAwarenessWeek
"The work of clubs and their community foundations to prioritise mental health among players, staff and fans alikequally has meaningful and life-changing impact - something it's been a pleasure to see first-hand at Tynecastle today."
