The Platinum Jubilee was the "last hurrah" before the British monarchy "dramatically" changed.
The Platinum Jubilee is finally here, in full swing. This week, royal fans around the world will celebrate the landmark 70-year reign of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning monarch in British history, who has led Britain and the Commonwealth steadfastly through 70 years of ups and downs.
When the Queen's reign ends, which may be many, many years from now, the monarchy will change dramatically, Hugo Vickers, a leading royal history scholar, told Page Six. In other words, the Jubilee is, in a sense, the last sunny occasion before the momentous changes we will never see again.
"If you think about it, this will be the last really big opportunity to publicly celebrate and thank the queen," Vickers said. 'I think these days are really important. Everyone needs to get out and celebrate her."
According to the Daily Express, despite physical mobility issues, the Queen's power is as strong as ever.
"The Queen is loved around the world, respected by world leaders, and has overseen the monarchy with grace, elegance, wit, and charm. She is a rare and efficient communicator. Her public appearances may be less frequent, but her influence, power, and effectiveness are perhaps at their strongest ever."
"Despite many attempts to divert headlines away from the Queen, including Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Prince Andrew, the Queen will be the talk of the town this week.
"I hope everything is focused on the Queen. The fewer distractions the better."
Well said.
