Prince Harry and Meghan Markle arrive for thanksgiving service to cheers from the crowd.

The Royal Family was out in force this morning for the Queen's Thanksgiving Day at St. Paul's Cathedral - Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were among them, arriving at the church to loud boos, the Mirror reports. (PEOPLE refutes that there was any booing at all, writing, "Despite reports to the contrary, the couple were not booed.")

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived smiling and hand in hand, waving to the assembled crowd. For the occasion, Princess Meghan wore a white belted coat dress with a dramatic collar and a matching wide-brimmed hat.

The couple were ushered into the second row of seats alongside Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, and their respective husbands. Harry and Meghan sat behind Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, with Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince William and Kate Middleton in the front row across the aisle. Neither the Cambridges nor the Sussexes brought their children to the service, but according to longtime Sussex reporter Omid Scobie, the queen had a chance to meet her namesake Lili at Windsor Castle last night.

"I think people are expecting some sort of big birthday extravaganza where we will see pictures," he told BBC Breakfast. 'From what I've heard, nothing should be expected. The moment with Lilibet is a private moment for Lilibet and the Queen, and of course we know how much the Queen was looking forward to it. Of course, we also know that the Queen returned to Windsor Castle yesterday. She and her husband also returned to Windsor and are staying at Frogmore Cottage. So that must have been the first moment or the first opportunity for the Queen to meet her namesake."

While the family gathered to give thanks for her 70 years of service as Queen, Her Majesty watched the service on the television at her home at Windsor Castle. After attending Trooping the Colour yesterday and then the Beacon lighting ceremony at Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace issued a statement yesterday that the Queen would not be attending the thanksgiving service. In view of the travel and activities required to attend tomorrow's National Thanksgiving Service at St. Paul's Cathedral, Her Majesty the Queen has concluded, with great reluctance, that she will not be attending."[9

The Thanksgiving service will be Harry and Meghan's first major public appearance since arriving in the UK earlier this week. Although they attended Trooping the Colour yesterday, the couple watched from the Major General's office with other members of the royal family. According to Tatler magazine, tomorrow, Lili's first birthday, Her Majesty the Queen will miss the derby at Epsom Downs and attend Lili's first birthday party at Frogmore Cottage.

This morning, Kate wore a pastel yellow Emilia Wickstead and Philip Treacy hat and, according to PEOPLE, "William and Kate kept looking ahead as they passed the already seated Prince Harry and Princess Meghan in the pews. Harry also kept looking forward. (The brothers did not interact publicly during the platinum jubilee, but "Marie Claire" recently reported that they are back on good terms, thanks to FaceTiming and WhatsApp.)

The couple's relationship with their parents is also very positive.

Following the thanksgiving celebration, members of the royal family attended a reception at the Guildhall.
