Lilibet Diana spends her first birthday tomorrow with her namesake, the Queen?
Lots of Celebrations In addition to four days of festivities honoring the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, tomorrow the Sussexes will celebrate Lilibet Diana's first birthday at Frogmore Cottage. (According to Tatler magazine, the Queen will miss the derby at Epsom Downs for Lili's party. The magazine writes, "The Queen, however, will reportedly instead attend a birthday party for Harry and Meghan's daughter, Lilibet, who will turn one on June 4 at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, half a mile from the Queen's home at Windsor Castle."
According to Sussex biographer Omid Scobie, the Queen reportedly met her namesake daughter last night after a family-only lunch at Buckingham Palace following Trooping the Colour (the first time Lili has been in her father's native country since her birth last year in California (This is the first time Lili has visited her father's home country, the UK, since she was born in California last year).
"I think everyone is expecting some big birthday extravaganza," she said. 'From what I've heard, nothing should be expected. That time with Lilibet was a private one, just the Queen and me, and of course I know how much she was looking forward to it. Of course, I also know that the Queen returned to Windsor Castle yesterday. She and her husband also returned to Windsor and are staying at Frogmore Cottage. So that must have been the Queen's first moment or first chance to meet her namesake."
While nothing is confirmed, all signs seem to point to yes, that the Queen will be there to celebrate her great-grandchildren. On yesterday's episode of "Pod Save the Queen," host Zoe Forsey, via the Daily Express, said, "Saturday is horses, but I don't think she [the Queen] will go because there is talk of Lilibet's first birthday party."
However, due to scheduling conflicts, it is certain that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will miss Lili's party.
