Cambridge couple to move to Windsor by the end of this summer.

The summer of 2022 is a milestone year for the Cambridge family. Of course, so is the Platinum Jubilee, which celebrates Her Majesty the Queen's historic 70-year reign. Prince William will turn 40 on June 21. And apparently, after months of speculation, the family of five will move to Berkshire and to a house on the grounds of the Queen's Windsor residence.

According to The Sunday Times (opens in new tab) (via The Independent), William and his wife Kate and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, will keep Kensington Palace as their London home, but by the end of summer, As previously speculated, their primary residence will be in Windsor. According to the magazine, George and Charlotte will leave Thomas Battersea School, which they currently attend, to enroll in a school near Windsor. [The family will also maintain their country house, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk.

"The Prince of Wales does not intend to stay at Windsor Castle as long as the queen does once he becomes king, so the family will eventually move to Windsor Castle," the Independent reported.

"The reality is, there is pretty much only so much they can do in London," a friend told The Sunday Times. 'The kids can't even go to the park and kick a soccer ball with their friends. Their plan is to stay there for the next 10 to 15 years and then move to Ammer, which is special to them."

The Berkshires are believed to be the family's last move before William becomes king.

"He would never say it publicly but is deeply saddened by the fact that his grandmother is no longer around, the pressure on his father, and further scrutiny of the family," one aide told The Sunday Times.

According to The Sun, the recently renovated Adelaide Cottage is expected to be the family's first choice of residence when they move to Windsor. And in addition to its proximity to the Queen, who currently lives full-time at Windsor Castle, Kate's parents Michael and Carole Middleton are only a 45-minute drive away in nearby Bucklebury, making the move all the more understandable.
