Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Meeting with Prince Charles "Was No Real Breakthrough," Expert Says

On June 3, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were seen leaving Prince Charles and Camilla's London residence, Clarence House. Many royal followers had hoped that the meeting would be a step forward in the recently strained relationship between the Prince of Wales and the Sussexes, but it appears to have been the opposite. [Royal family expert Christopher Andersen said in a recent episode of the "Royally Us" podcast. 'Prince Harry no doubt went there expecting some sort of reconciliation. So I think the curtain has fallen."

Andersen, who has written extensively about Princess Diana, says the friction between father and son would have upset the late Crown Princess.

"One of the things I find very sad about this is that Princess Diana, had she been alive today, would have been heartbroken about this," he says.

"She would have understood why Harry wanted to take his own life and go to California. But she always saw Harry as William's wingman. She always said, 'My sons are my revenge. And what she meant by that was that as a team, they would move the monarchy forward into a more modern era. But now it seems to be just William and Kate and their children."

Marie Claire reported that Harry and Meghan's visit to the UK earlier this month was likely not what they had hoped for, not only from Charles' perspective, but from that of the entire royal family.

"I think he [Harry] was very, very upset that he was mostly ignored," royal family expert Angela Levin told OK! 'He still feels he should be apologized to. But he's the one who should be apologizing. He said in an interview on Oprah that Charles and William are trapped. He said his father had disowned him."

According to a friend of Harry's brother Prince William, contrary to wishful thinking, he is still feuding with Prince William, and the Duke of Cambridge is still struggling with the Duke of Sussex.

"He is still deeply upset about it and feels let down," a friend of William's told The Times, according to The Mirror.

"But he is moving on.
