Prince William and Kate Middleton throw a joint 40th birthday party hosted by the Queen.
Prince William turned 40 yesterday, June 21, nearly five months after his wife Kate Middleton celebrated her 40th birthday on January 9.
The Duchess of Cambridge's celebration was decidedly low-key, as it took place while variants of Omicron COVID were still spreading exponentially in the UK. Instead, her birthday was marked with the unveiling of a special portrait by Paolo Roversi, one of which is currently on loan to the University of St. Andrews for the summer.
The Duke, however, believes the day should be properly celebrated, and has reportedly obtained permission to throw a joint birthday party with the Duchess later this summer.
A royal source told the Mirror that there is general agreement that the Cambridges should "celebrate a memorable birthday in style."
The party will be hosted by the Queen at one of her favorite residences, either Windsor Castle or Sandringham Manor, but it appears that Prince William will be largely responsible for the actual organization.
Commentators have noted that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, each turning 40, are more confident in themselves and more themselves as individuals and as a couple.
Regarding Prince William's public persona on his 40th birthday, body language expert Darren Stanton previously told Marie Claire: "I think he's a very confident man, and I think he's a very confident man. Of course, fatherhood has brought William a newfound peace of mind and calm, and a growing confidence in himself." Indeed!
