Kate Middleton and Prince William drink beer and play soccer after the unveiling of their portraits.
If there is one thing all royal commentators agree on these days, it is that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have shown great confidence both as individuals and as a couple.
But there are exceptions to every rule, and Prince William and Kate Middleton, attending the unveiling of their first joint portrait, looked a little uncomfortable. To be fair, anyone would find it a bit odd to have their giant painting hanging in a museum gallery.
ICYMI, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had a painting of themselves displayed in the Fitzwilliam Museum at Cambridge University on June 23. The portrait was painted by artist Jamie Coles and is literally larger than life.
According to body language expert Darren Stanton, the royal couple is obviously very grateful to be commemorated in this way, but they also feel a little awkward having to stare at themselves and nod in appreciation They are.
"At the unveiling ceremony, the couple seemed a bit hesitant and nervous.
"For Kate and William, they usually show their support by attending events in support of charities and visiting hospitals."
"Their body language during the unveiling suggests that even though their first portrait is a milestone in royal history, they felt it was a bit suggest that they felt it was a bit self-indulgent."
However, the two men were not the only ones who felt that the portrait was a milestone in royal history.
After getting the portraits, however, the Cambridges were able to do what they were accustomed to doing: interacting with royal fans and representatives of various local organizations.
"Kate and William were more than happy to attend the unveiling," Stanton continues, "but were left a bit speechless and a bit overwhelmed when they saw how gorgeous the portraits were. But when I saw the two mingling with the locals afterward, they seemed much more relaxed."
In a very charming turn of events, the Cambridges were seen drinking beer and kicking a soccer ball (the Duchess was wearing heels, which was impressive). This was all part of the Cambridgeshire County Day celebrations.
"I saw Kate kicking a soccer ball in heels and drinking beer with William while letting her hair down," Stanton observed.
"Moments like this reaffirm how relatable Kate and Will are as a couple and remind the public that they are two 40-year-olds enjoying life as normal 40-year-olds do."
The royal family also visited housing charity Jimmy's and children's hospice EACH on the same day.
The Duchess also looked lovingly at her husband in a lovely return to business as usual.
By the way, if you were paying attention to Middleton's attire, you would have noticed the LK Bennett dress in a slightly different print (opens in new tab) and the Emmy London pumps (opens in new tab) and clutch bag (opens in new tab).
