Halsey shuts out fans leaving Phoenix concert during pro-choice speech
Halsey was unfazed by fans leaving the concert in the middle of her speech in support of women's rights. The "Bad at Love" singer used her recent concert to speak out about the impact of the Supreme Court's decision to strike down Roe v. Wade, which made access to safe and legal abortion a constitutional right.
At a concert in Phoenix on Sunday night, Halsey took the stage to address the recent ruling and its harmful effects on Americans. Some fans took issue with their stance, as they left the concert mid-concert.
They responded to a fan's tweet about the walkout on Monday, saying, "The downside of doing an outdoor venue: no doors to bump into at the exit?
"It's honestly heartbreaking to look at this audience and see so many people who deserve to live incredible lives, who deserve to get the medical care they need, who deserve to choose themselves in situations where they have options," they said at the Arizona People said at the concert." I would hope that each and every one of you would be in a situation where that would not be available to you."
They added, "If you don't like it, I don't know why you came to a Halsey concert, because I've never been shy about this being [how I feel]."
This is not the first time Halsey has used a concert to speak out about abortion. At another concert in Dallas on Tuesday, Halsey gave a similar speech, saying, "F- (Texas Attorney General) Ken Paxton!" and "F- (Texas Governor) Greg Abbott!" and led chants of "F- (Texas Attorney General) Ken Paxton!
Halsey joined a long list of celebrities who have expressed outrage at the SCOTUS ruling.
