Meghan Markle allegedly didn't like one article in Vanity Fair magazine.
British writer Tom Bower's new book, Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the War Between the Windsors, is not yet out, but it is already causing drama. According to an excerpt published in The Daily Beast, Meghan Markle was very unhappy with how she was portrayed in a 2017 Vanity Fair article headlined: "She's obsessed with Harry."
Bower writes that after the article was published, Meghan angrily called her publicist and told him she should have had the reference to her relationship with Prince Harry removed. Bower writes that Meghan also called Sam Kirshner, whom she interviewed for the Vanity Fair article, and complained about how she was portrayed. Meghan demanded that the media do what she expected them to do. I felt manipulated," Kashner is quoted as saying.
The bombshell article claimed that Meghan was angry at stories that minimized her work as an actor and activist in favor of her impending engagement to Harry. She was particularly upset that one important story was omitted. It was a letter she wrote to P&G as a child to complain about a sexist dish soap commercial
. Bower writes, "'Vanity Fair's' fact-checkers questioned its accuracy and, after consulting with P&G and advertising historians, concluded that they could not prove the full story."
For reference, you can see 12-year-old Megan discussing the letter on Nick News in 1993. Here she talks about her letter to the company and how, in response, the company changed the wording of the commercial from "women fighting greasy pots and pans" to "people fighting greasy pots and pans."
