Kate Middleton reportedly wants to change the 1 "weird" royal Christmas tradition in favour of a more "relaxed" and "middle class" holiday

The Royal family has a lot of Christmas traditions that are different from the rest of us (for one, to give a recorded speech to the state). But when Prince William finally takes the throne, it sounds like Kate Middleton might want to make some changes — at least

For hundreds of years, the royal family has been exchanging gifts on Christmas Eve rather than Christmas Day.This is a German tradition introduced in the 1800s by Queen Victoria and her German husband, Prince Albert.

According to The Daily Beast, one source claims that Queen Elizabeth enjoyed opening gifts the day before Christmas. She "hated the overt expression of luxury and consumerism" and "preferred to have a sacred note on Christmas day."

However, Princess Kate is not a fan, according to 1 insider. "Kate always thought Christmas Eve presents were weird. When they are officially running things, it will definitely be removed," a source close to the prince and princess of Wales told the publication.

The Welsh spent time on holiday at Anmer Hall (King's Sandringham estate), a Norfolk home, and according to a source in The Daily Beast, Christmas would look quite different in their home.

An insider said the usual Christmas tradition "will continue in some way this year at Sandringham." But in Anmer Hall everything is going to be much more relaxed and taste of the middle class.""

"You can bet your lower dollars that they will make the right presents for each other and the kids there on Christmas day," the source added.

No matter when their presents are exchanged, the Welsh are set to celebrate in a big way on Dec. 6. The Princess of Wales will host the annual Christmas Carol Concert, which will be attended by Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

The Princess has also been reported to have invited the families of children killed during a tragic knife attack in a summer dance class, and the Sun reports that their presence "will mean more to her than ever.""
