Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie will inherit the Royal Lodge if Prince Andrew can continue to pay the "insignificant upkeep" of the "crumbling" house.
Prince Andrew reportedly came up with the money to stay at the Royal Lodge, a longtime Windsor home, but many Royal watchers wondered what the property would be like if he was gone. In reports that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie wanted to leave the house, one expert talked about the possibility that the scenario was actually happening.
Prince Andrew was granted a 75-year lease from the Crown Estate in 2003 when he moved into a property in Windsor, formerly the home of the Queen's mother.
Robin Edwards of London property buying agency Curetons told GB News that the 64-year-old Duke of York could leave the Royal Lodge to his daughters, but there are 1 condition.
"As long as Prince Andrew can continue to pay the unimportant upkeep to maintain the Royal Lodge in accordance with the terms of his 2003 lease, King Charles and the free Owner Crown Estate will not be able to turf him or his descendants," the property expert said.
But it may be easier than to say. Edwards said the 75-year lease, instead of rent, requires Andrew to carry out the renovation of the Royal Lodge at his own expense, adding that the cost was "conservatively estimated" at 7.5 million pounds (99.5 million) in 2002.
"Costs are likely to have grown significantly since then with time and inflation," the property expert continued, explaining that due to the historical nature of the house, it is not a quick and easy renovation.
Edwards noted that the Royal Lodge "reportedly requires a huge amount of work and suffers from "crumbling stonework and peeling paint" among other problems. Previous reports have said the house is also plagued by mold problems.
In the interior, Princess Beatrice's husband is rumored to be a man in a fashionable and calm atmosphere in the renewal process Edwards has a common but differentiated responsibility"for the interior decoration that was made after the renewal of the Prince's property in the 1950s."
The Royal Lodge in the country and its father, who is said to be the second child of Princess Beatrice Spring, Princess Eugenie, recently a few months, hi! "The girls take their grandchildren to visit him most weekends," an insider told the magazine.
"They spend much more time with him than they have done in recent years," the source continued. They seem to be quite protective against him."
Earlier this month, the Times reported that Prince Andrew had secured enough money to stay at the Royal Lodge after his brother King Charles allegedly cut him off from his allowance.
"It is understood that Prince Andrew's money was approved by Sir Michael Stevens, the keeper of the secret wallet, as being from legitimate sources," The Times wrote.
It is still unclear whether the unemployed Duke of York, who was forced to step down from his royal duties in 2019 after facing allegations of sexual assault, can continue to come up with funds to maintain such an expensive property in the long run.
