Miley Cyrus says at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards that it was her mom's idea to do pole dancing at the age of 16
Miley Cyrus has straightened the record when it comes to her controversial performance at the 2009 teen Choice Awards.
During a recent conversation with her sister, Brandi Cyrus, for Spotify's Billions Club series, revealed that the "Flower" singer is her mother, Tish Cryus, a performer who raises her eyebrows
"This is no surprise to you. Do you know whose idea it was?Miley asked her sister, and who automatically guessed it was their mom's plan.
"Yeah, that was my mom's idea. So she always makes me responsible," she revealed. "When I was in trouble the next day, you know who was nowhere to be found.
Clius won the 2009 Teen Choice Award for "Party in the U.S."S.A.I was only 16 years old when I first played. During the performance, she performed the infamous dance on stage with a pole attached to an ice cream cart.
At the time, Cyrus was known for her more family-friendly role in Hannah Montana, so her pole dancing routine caused a bit of controversy. At one point, Cyrus was even compared to Britney Spears, the four・faced pop star of the time.
The 16-year-old's performance at the time caused a stir, but looking back at Cyrus, she said she remembers what she wore more than the controversy that followed
"The thing I remember most about that performance was wearing real diamond jewelry on stage." It was the first time I wore it," she explained to her sister. "So you guys remember a little old ice cream truck. I remember the diamond."
A recent conversation with her sister was not the first time Cyrus had discussed a memorable performance. In a video posted to TikTok last year, Cyrus took to the air
when he explained that Paul was used primarily for "stability" and not actually the so-called "stripper pole".S.A.'I had cut ' and I was doing my first performance for the Teen Choice Awards. My mother said, "I think it would be really cool if she was in a trailer park, that's where we really came from," Cyrus explained at the time.
"So, apparently I was dancing in an ice cream cart with a stripper pole, but it wasn't a stripper pole, it was actually for stability. I had a heel! Guys, what do you want from me?She continued. "Were you going to do a performance without dancing on an ice cream cart?"
