Michelle Yeoh felt "like such a failure" for not being able to have children
Michelle Yeoh is open about the difficult experience of not being able to have children.
The wicked actress just appeared on BBC Radio 4 Women's Time and revealed that she had undergone fertility treatment during her marriage to Dixon Poon between 1988 and 1992. Unfortunately, the two could not have children together.
"Every month, you feel like such a failure, and then you go, "Why?"Yo said on the radio show. "At some point, you stop blaming yourself and say, "There are certain things in your body that don't work in certain ways." That is so. You just need to go and move on. And I think it comes to the point where you have to stop blaming you.
The actress explained that she really wanted children, but the point was when she had to accept that she did not have children.
This, she said, was "the main factor that broke up my first marriage."
She has no regrets.
"But you also need to understand, these are conversations that you really need to have with yourself and be able to look ahead and think,"Yes, we love each other very much now,But in 10 or 20 years, I still can not give the family he craves."And you have to be fair," Yo continued.
"That's why this dialogue between couples is so important. For example, if one person wants [children] and the other doesn't, this is the first thing you have to face.
"So in our way, "Okay, let's not drag this out."
Since leaving Poon, Yo married her partner Jean Todd in 2023, and as reported by Us Weekly, she had previously been engaged for 19 years.
Their relationship brought an extra blessing: Todd's son Nicholas had a baby just this past month.
"I'm 62 years old. Of course, I'm not going to have a baby now, but I just had grandchildren," Yo said on the radio show. "Then you still feel very, very blessed because you have a baby in your life."
Yo is an evil star alongside Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Bailey, and the film is finally due to be released. 22.
