Elsa Hosk refers to "very cool rich woman" in H&M pinstripe suit

When Charli XCX sang "I'm your favorite reference, baby" on the track "360", most attendees at H&M's Surprise Times Square concert and Hotel Chelsea after party agreed. (All the trendy winter coats paired with hot pants and Gucci bags in the crowd were proof. But model and designer Elsa Hosk had another reference on Monday night's mood board. It was more a "fashion Week millionaire" than a "brat."

The founders of Helsa avoided the clothes of the Indie Sleaze Club Rats for a suit that represented their fall favorite tonal dressing. She pulled 2 pieces that have not yet been released from the h&M Studio collection, an oversized pinstripe blazer with asymmetrical closures and a scruffy pair of trousers that matched it. (Both will be available for purchase on Thursday, Nov. 21.A pair of 80s-inspired earrings and black loafers completed the look that cast the party as a serious business.

"When I get dressed, I love to be a little helpful," Hosk said. In this case, subtle, textured pinstripes and buttons of different shapes helped her tap into the Doienne of Corso Como. "It felt very 'cool rich woman', so I went with the hair of an old lady who was a little teased to go with it, like a wonderful old lady in Milan," she explains, "and a classic, nude-toned make-up."

When Hosk finally showed up, she was channeling Princess Diana's revenge dress with pixie cuts and pearls. Last night she still had the late Royal in her rolodex of reference — but Lauren Hutton, Grace Jones, Jane Birkin, and Chloe Sevigny also named at the door "I'm always inspired by women and men who dress for themselves," Hosk says. Or more succinctly: "All icons!"

You can make the case that Elsa Hosk is another favorite reference in the fashion world 1. She has 8.7 million Instagram followers hanging on all her clothes. She attributes the success of her style to being true to herself. "I have always been big on fit and love to create moments that inspire people to go for it, do your own thing,"" she explains of her design process. "Helsa taught me about confidence, trust my gut, and it resonates when I make the clothes I want to wear and feel comfortable and empowered [...]...........

From her scruffy, "rich lady" H&M suit to her tonal knitwear, Hosk's wardrobe is probably best described by another of Charli's lyrics: she looks like an "icon.""
