King Charles admits that he "shed tears" at his wife during the star-studded event
Queen Camilla's work with domestic violence charities has not necessarily attracted much attention, but after her new documentary, Her Majesty: Premiered behind closed Doors. 11, she is admired by many for breaking boundaries — and in the case of King Charles, moving him to the point of "tears.""
The King and Queen attended a reception to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the film and television charity at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, Nov. 13, and during the event, Charles began to meet two of the women in charge of Camilla's emotional film.
In a photo from the reception, Charles hands Naveed Chowdhary-Flatt from Love Monday Productions to make her colleague Kelly Bearfield look with a smile
"I'm really very proud," Wang told the duo (through the mirror) that he was looking for his wife. As we discussed the new 90-minute film, it presents shocking statistics about domestic violence and the work of the victim and the queen.
Like many who watched the show, Charles, who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, admitted that it made him quite emotional. "I was moved by tears," he told the filmmakers.
The Queen herself was also in tears when she heard stories of domestic violence during the documentary, and spoke of her first encounter with Diana Parks, whose daughter was brutally murdered by her estranged husband.
"My reaction was to cry, although I'm scared," Queen Camilla said. "I looked around and there was a lot of police and a hard-nosed journalist sitting there - there was no dry eye in that place," he said.
Along with meeting the filmmakers behind Camila's documentary, the King and Queen also spoke with stars like Damien Lewis and Paddington of Peruvian actress Emily Mortimer during the palace reception.
Queen Camilla told the actress that she "quit 20 years ago" after she even chatted with Mortimer about her previous smoking habits and discussed Mortimer's mother's tobacco preferences.
That night, King Charles hit the Red Carpet at the Gladiator II premiere, resting at home while Camilla continued to recover from a chest infection
