Prince William Emotionally Reconsiders Proposal to Princess Kate During Visit to South Africa

On November 4, Prince William departed on a solo visit to Cape Town for the Earthshot Awards ceremony. Prior to this visit, Prince William reflected on the importance of South Africa, particularly the country where he proposed to his wife, Princess Kate. [Africa will always hold a special place in my heart as the place where I found peace as a teenager, where I proposed to my wife, and most recently, as the inspiration for the creation of the Earthshot Prize,” William said in a statement via People.

He continued, “It was in Namibia in 2018 that I realized the power of how innovative and positive solutions to environmental problems can make a transformative difference for people and nature.”

William and Kate publicly announced their engagement in November 2010 and wed the following year.

Prince William traveled to Cape Town without his wife, but royal experts suggested that the solo visit was a positive sign, given Princess Kate's cancer treatment.

According to Express.co.uk, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said, “Prince William is ...... made it clear that his family, their health, and their privacy come first."

He continued. As Princess Catherine so movingly told us, she has been undergoing preventive chemotherapy for her cancer, and although her chemotherapy has ended, she says she still has a long way to go.”

He continued.

Ultimately, Fitzwilliams believes that William will not leave the country unless Kate is confident in her health. He explained, “William will definitely not go to South Africa, even for the fourth annual Earthshot Awards ceremony, unless he feels that Kate is healthy and will be able to have fun with her family while he is away.”

Prior to his trip to Cape Town, William, in a statement stated. I am proud to say that since the Earthshot Prize was created, it has traveled across Europe, North America, and Asia, spotlighting 45 groundbreaking solutions and expanding its reach.”

All of which are having a tangible impact as we work as a global collective to secure the future of our planet.

This week, we will travel to South Africa to spotlight the next 15 finalists and have the opportunity to join our partners across the continent to celebrate the inspiring approach to environmental innovation taking place across the continent.
