Prince Charles follows in Queen Elizabeth's footsteps with a cameo in “Paddington in Peru”.
King Charles reportedly took inspiration from his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, to make a cameo appearance in the new film “Paddington in Peru.”
Queen Elizabeth famously shot a video for the 2022 Platinum Jubilee facing a CGI Paddington Bear. In the adorable video, the Queen invited Paddington to Buckingham Palace for afternoon tea and marmalade sandwiches, much to the delight of viewers around the world.
In the third film in the franchise, “Paddington in Peru,” Charles apparently makes a very brief cameo at the beginning of the film. According to “Hello! magazine reports that Paddington can be seen holding a stamped letter, which of course bears a portrait of King Charles.
However, there is a slight difference between the movie stamp and the actual stamp with the King's portrait. Harrow, “Notably, the stamps show a rare front-facing portrait of His Majesty the King, rather than a profile portrait,” Harrow reports.
Hello! noted that Queen Elizabeth also appeared in Peru's Paddington, with the portrait of the late monarch posing with the famous bear.
The portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth was included in the new film “with the consent and agreement of the royal family,” Studio Canal executive Ron Halpern told Variety (via Good Housekeeping).
Producer Rosie Allison told Variety, “[The royal family] was actually very happy for it to happen. But we don't want to do anything over the top. Paddington is obviously a very modest man.”
The surprising Platinum Jubilee skit in which Queen Elizabeth performed with Paddington Bear was apparently a well kept secret: The Telegraph reported that the queen kept the video “so secret that her children, grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren did not know about it.”
Royal photographer Chris Jackson captured the moment Prince George and Princess Charlotte finally saw the video during a platinum party at the palace in June 2022. Sharing a photo of their adorable expressions on Instagram, Jackson wrote, “The moment the Queen pulled a marmalade sandwich out of her handbag: ...... What an evening, what a privilege to be there,” she wrote.
