The Kaite Amelia tote bag is to Katie Holmes what the Hermes Birkin is to Jennifer Lopez (read: her closet mascot). Katie Holmes, the “Dawson's Creek” actor, has taken this camel-colored carry-on bag everywhere in New York City, styling it with virtually every type of outfit.

The bag in question is a $2,400 leather style from the quietly upscale Khaite. At first glance, the price may seem exorbitant, but Holmes has worn this bag so many times that the cost per wear is close to zero. I dare you to find a look I can't wear this with.

On November 7, Holmes again went out wearing her go-to accessory, effectively proving my pet theory. In yesterday's styling, the caramel color was further emphasized with warm neutrals. The star of her look, aside from her tote bag, was a quilted military jacket covered in colorful patches (pastel orange, olive green, and several colors of taupe).

She cleverly elevated her slate-gray sweatpants and comfortable T-shirt with this jacket. Her outfit took on even more whimsy from there. Holmes paired her tortoiseshell aviators with pink striped tube socks, which drew even more attention to Chloe's $850 designer sneakers (another favorite she's worn for years).
