Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco's couple debut Halloween costumes are too painful.

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco were ready for Halloween long before we were.

The sweet lovebirds showed off their impressive couple debut costumes on Instagram on October 29. Gomez dressed as Alice in Wonderland, wearing a light blue and silver fluffy tulle dress, a patent white mary jane with black tips by Sézane, ruffled white socks, a blonde wig, and a black ribbon headband by Jennifer Behr.

Blanco was right on the Mad Hatter theme with white face paint, wild makeup, a frizzy red wig, a shiny top hat, and a mismatched suit of completely different sizes and colors.

The founder of Wondermind captioned the photo “Curiouser and curiouser...” and her music producer boyfriend captioned it, “My prosthetics are giving me handsome squidward meets longlegs.”

[8 Many people, including Gomez's makeup artist Hang Bango, her hairstylist Orlando Pita, and My Mind and Me producer Aline Keshishian, were enamored with the couple's getup. (Gomez restricted comments on this post, so only a select few were able to share their thoughts.)

There is some debate as to whether Halloween should have been celebrated this past weekend or whether the upcoming weekend (the 31st is on a Thursday) is more appropriate, but it seems that some pretty amazing celebrity costumes have already taken center stage this year.

But it's clear that Halloween royalty are waiting with bated breath to come out this year.

Heidi Klum was fitted with prosthetics a few weeks ago, so we can expect some crazy over-the-top costumes there as well. Celebrities who have made me laugh or gasp with their Halloween costumes in the past include Kendall Jenner as a cucumber, Kim Kardashian and friends as the cast of Tiger King, and Kevin Hart as The Rock. I am very excited to see what awaits us in the future.
