Kaia Gerber's under $500 bag, ballet shoes, and sunglasses are the only accessories she needs
Kaia Gerber looks good in everything from rare vintage Givenchy couture to J. Crew cashmere sweaters. This ability to infuse style and meaning into an outfit for any occasion is the mark of a true supermodel.
One example: the laid-back ensemble she wore to run errands in Los Angeles over the weekend; on Sunday, October 27, the 23-year-old wore a pair of voluminous, Jackie Onassis-inspired Thistles summer/fall sunglasses. Paired with the black sunglasses was a black shopper tote with silver grommets from Paloma Wool. Her bag is currently sold out, but a waiting list for restocking is linked below for those interested. Earlier this month, Gerber was photographed wearing low-rise jeans and the same bag with a Library Science trucker hat from her eponymous book club while FaceTiming on the streets of NYC.
I would also like to take this opportunity to formally ask: Does anyone know Kaia Gerber's perfect auburn lip combination? On the red carpet, where makeup artist Nina Park calls the shots, she tends to wear understated pinks and nudes. But when it comes to her everyday look, she clearly prefers something a little darker, a shade closer to her chestnut hair. Perhaps she took a cue from my explanation of contrasting makeup theory.
Her other attire was the epitome of off-duty model fashion: a white tank top and loose white pull-on pants. The genius of these elastic-waist pants, in my opinion, is that from a distance they look like pants but feel like lightweight sweatpants on the body. I have yet to find where Gerber's crisp white pants came from, but Anine Bing's Soto pants would be a close substitute.
The star of the bottoms finished the look with black Repetto ballet flat shoes, a favorite of French girl purveyors. The shoes are well-purchased if you want to emulate her look, but there are equally great (and slightly less expensive) options available from Margaux and Mango.
Needless to say, Gerber instantly elevates everything she wears, even what are essentially pajama-like outfits.
