Prince William shares childhood photo with Princess Diana

In a new documentary about homelessness in the United Kingdom, Prince William shares rare stories about his own childhood and the profound impact his mother, Princess Diana, and her charity work had on Prince William from an early age.

In “Prince William: We Can End Homelessness,” the future King William, along with Princess Diana, visited the late Princess Diana's spiritual home, the London homelessness charity ” The Passage,” which was a charity that supported the homeless in London, where the late Princess Diana had made her home.

In one touching shot from 1993, Prince William, who turned 11 in June of that year, poses in a suit and tie with his mother and two chefs in the charity's kitchen. In another snap, Diana warmly chats with a group at the shelter, with William by her side.

In a third photo from the same visit, William proudly holds a wrapped Christmas gift, while Princess Diana seems to be casually giving a Christmas cheer in a bright green printed blouse, smiling with the ladies.

Prince recounts his first visit to the Passage in the documentary, “My mother took me to the Passage. My mother took Harry and me. I think I was about 11 at the time, maybe 10. I had never been there before. I was a little nervous about what was going to happen.”

But he found himself surprised by the visit. He remembers thinking at the time that if everyone didn't have a home, they would all be really sad.” Instead, he spoke of “how much happier the environment was” than Passage had imagined.

William, who would become a Royal Patron of the charity as an adult, was seen playing chess with one of Passage's patrons in an unpublished photo from another visit, and talks about the experience in a new document.

“I remember playing chess, chatting, having pleasant conversations. It was then that I realized that there were people out there who didn't have the same kind of life that I did.”

The documentary follows the Crown Prince's journey to end homelessness, and he admitted to experiencing guilt about “doing more.”

“I've spent enough time learning and listening to what people have been through that I almost feel guilty every time I return,” he revealed. In another clip from the documentary, the prince spoke about why he is the right person to carry the torch for the project.

“I have come with no agenda other than to desperately try to help those in need,” said Prince William, who is also a patron of another homeless charity, Centerpoint, adding, “I consider that part of my role.”

Currently, “Prince William: We Can End Homelessness” is only available on ITV in the UK, but on Monday, October 28, it was announced that the documentary will be available worldwide on Disney+ on Friday, November 1.
