Is Kylie Jenner's gown at the 2024 CFDA Awards a “Black Swan” coord?
Kylie Jenner looked like a beautiful blackbird at the 2024 CFDA Awards on Monday (October 28), where the mother of two took her friend Carter Gregory as her date to the event that honors the best and brightest in American design. She took her friend Carter Gregory out on a date.
Jenner wore a jet-black, feather-covered, black, high-necked, long-sleeved gown by Jean Paul Gaultier's Spring 2023 Couture collection, buttoned up more than usual. Styled by Alexandra and Mackenzie Grandquist, the feather design also featured a pencil skirt that flared outward to emphasize her hips.
The Kylie Cosmetics mogul paired her pitch-black dress with pointy black pinwheels and an artfully folded updo that fell somewhere between a bun and a high ponytail. Her makeup was minimal except for apricot blush, matte nude peach lips, and Audrey Hepburn-esque un-arched brows. However, instead of matching black nails, she went with the naked look that her supermodel sister Kendall Jenner has been sporting for the last month or so. Celebrities such as Selena Gomez and Kaia Gerber have also embraced the trend.
It was a look that clearly had a black swan codec feel, blending a ballet-core aesthetic with feather skirts, which are slated to be a top trend for fall 2024, as Marie Claire's Sarah Holtzman pointed out earlier during Fashion Month. As Marie Claire's Sarah Holzman pointed out earlier during Fashion Month, feathered dresses and skirts flew down the catwalks at Ferragamo, Bottega Veneta, and Brunello Cucinelli. Meanwhile, at Tory Burch, models like Irina Shayk spread their wings in feathered coats.
Of course, when it comes to Kylie Jenner, there's no need to question who wore the trend better; the same was true of the look she wore to the 2024 CFDA Awards.
