Selena Gomez Votes for Kamala Harris in Rodarte Custom Red Dress at TV Premiere

Selena Gomez attended a special event doubleheader on Monday, October 28.

Photographers caught up with Gomez at the world premiere of “The Wizards of Waverly Place” in Los Angeles. The rare beauty billionaire, who briefly reprises her role as Alex Russo in the Disney+ series, graced the premiere's purple carpet in a custom Rodarte red sequin and embroidered collar gown styled by Erin Walsh. The strapless crimson dress was the perfect response to fashion's excessive obsession with the cherry red trend after Ferragamo, Stella McCartney, and Tibi dominated the fall 2023 and spring 2024 runways.

Inspired by the Disney Channel original show “The Wizard of Waverly Place,” the series follows the adult Justin Russo (Alex's brother, played by David Henley) as he mentors a young apprentice wizard; from 2006 Gomez and Henry, who worked together on the show for four seasons until 2012, were all smiles as they reunited for Monday night's screening.

Gomez wore matching red slingback heels and lots of white gold and diamond jewelry from Messika, including dangling Fiery earrings, a D-Vibes ring, two Glam'Azone double rings, a My Twin trilogy ring to adorn her custom look. She also kept the same black nail polish as her Alice in Wonderland Halloween costume from last weekend.

It's the first time in weeks that the actor has appeared on the red carpet dressed in anything but black. The last time Gomez wore Rodarte was when she chose a sequin-studded, rosette-embellished gown to promote Emilia Perez. She wanted a more sophisticated look for her first prestige lead role on the red carpet, but now that she is also doing press for other projects, she can broaden her color wheel.

The star of “Only Murder in the Building” didn't just walk the purple carpet in a Rodarte frock. Before the premiere, she wore the dress to cast a postal vote for Kamala Harris, which she shared on TikTok. During the vote, Gomez added a blue heart emoji on top of the selfie shared on Instagram, revealing her political leanings, even though she was wearing red instead of strictly Democratic blue.

Leave it to Gomez to find the most charming way to exercise her constitutional rights.
