Michelle Obama, in her most familiar campaign attire, speaks in Georgia
With anxiety about the 2024 elections growing by the day, we wish we had some news to cheer us up. So for the next few minutes, let's take a closer look at Michelle Obama's relatable new outfit.
The always stylish former first lady hit another stop on the Harris Waltz campaign trail with a campaign speech in College Park, Georgia, on October 29. She addressed a When We All Vote rally and influenced the audience with her powerful words and casual cool sense of style.
Breaking with tradition, Obama opted for loose-fitting jeans and a distressed sweater vest by R13, a fashion girl favorite, instead of a modern suit and pussy-ribbon blouse. Her ivory cable-knit top was sleeveless and frayed at the hem. Her jeans, on the other hand, were a nod to fall's wide-leg denim trend, with contrasting pocket detailing at the hips.
Obama also put a lot of effort into the jewelry department, layering Jennifer Fisher's gold bubble earrings (store them here) with matching bangles. She also layered Roxanne Assoulin's signature rainbow bracelets, a mature take on the friendship bracelet trend sparked by Taylor Swift (who, coincidentally, has also expressed her support for Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential bid). She has taken it up a notch.
Obama's look was unusually laid-back for a political rally, but in keeping with the Harris-Waltz campaign's theme of friendly attire. Vice President Harris' polling opponent, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, has made Midwestern casual wear the centerpiece of his campaign attire, seemingly appealing to a rural demographic that has historically leaned Republican.
So far, the campaign trail for Harris and Walz has seen tortoiseshell suits, sequined gowns, and viral camouflage hats. Politics hasn't seen this level of style since the days of former President Barack Obama, and it's about time it returned.
