Olivia Rodrigo takes to the air in trendy naked shoes and fierce studded mini dress
The naked shoe trend has gained Gen Z support from none other than Olivia Rodrigo, and on national television.
From Jennifer Lopez's Birkin with Naked Pumps to Kim Kardashian's Sky High PVC pleather, celebrities have been transparent this fall in all kinds of naked shoes. Olivia Rodrigo joined the mass optical illusion when she stopped by “The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon” on October 29. Styling duo Chloe and Chenelle Delgadillo had Rodrigo wear Amina Muaddi wedges in crystal clear material. The almost invisible heels and straps made the “Deja Vu” singer look as if she were walking on pointe or floating in the air.
Rodrigo's heels balanced the Ludovic de Saint-Sernin mini dresses that debuted on the Spring 2025 runway. A long studded belt wrapped around Rodrigo's body to create the dress, and a small section of the hem hung low to reveal a sliver of skin. It was a very punk rock, very gutsy world tour.
Saint Cernin's ingenious dress, with its layered belt effect and extensive use of studded detailing, was taken off the rack by this year's celebrity world, which preferred styles for the concert stage to the red carpet. Anja Taylor-Joy, Laura Harrier, and Dua Lipa all recently turned to the designer.
There is a lot of overlap between Olivia Rodrigo's rebellious lyrics and Saint Cernin's boundary-pushing silhouettes. The appearance of naked shoes in the same look was less expected: barefoot-effect shoes dominated the runways from Tibi to Brandon Maxwell for the spring 2025 season, but have yet to be witnessed in Rodrigo's wardrobe. She typically puts a punk-rock spin on the Mary Jane trend or stomps around the stage in her Dr. Martens.
Then again, stopping by the talk show desk looking barefoot is a pretty metal move. Perhaps there is more to this style than the chance to show off a fresh pedicure.
