Keke Palmer opened up about her feelings after her ex-boyfriend, Darius Jackson, publicly shamed her for her costume at an Usher concert last year.

In July 2023, Jackson tweeted a quote from a video of Usher serenading Palmer at a Las Vegas show, “It's the costume... You're a mom.”

In the video, the Nope actress happily danced in a transparent, full-length black dress over a black bodysuit.

Social media users were quick to condemn Jackson's comments.

“There was a lot going on behind the scenes at the time,” Palmer explained to People this week.

“I was speechless,” she said of the moment she learned of Jackson's comments and the furor they caused.

“I was at the photo shoot and everyone was making funny faces. Is everyone okay?” I was like, “I don't know. It was like, “I'm not sure. It was so crazy. I didn't want to get involved in something that wasn't real and add fuel to the fire."

She added, “I was just going to the concert, doing what I do as an entertainer, creating a fun moment. How that became a storyline about me and Usher loving each other, I don't know.”

The “Scream Queens” star told People as she promoted her new memoir, Master of Me: The Secret to Controlling Your Narrative.

The book covers a wide range of topics, from her career to her life as a single mother. In it, Palmer details what happened in her relationship with Jackson that made it “unhappy and unhealthy” and why she eventually had to walk away.

The actress was granted a temporary restraining order against Jackson after filing in November. She accused him of “a number of physical assaults” at the time.

The exes had a son, Leodis “Leo,” in February 2023, but Palmer eventually told People that she “didn't want my son to think his father was a monster.
