Zoë Kravitz shows off her Sad Girl fall staples: break-up barn jacket and chunky ankle boots

I have absolutely no pleasure in confirming the news that Zoë Kravitz has broken up with Channing Tatum. I should have known something was up when the “Blink Twice” director was spotted wearing an engagement ring at dinner with Shailene Woodley last week. In my experience, the only antidote to heartbreak is to jump headlong into the arms of a friend afterward.

Nevertheless, Kravitz seems to be holding up quite well despite the shocking announcement: on Wednesday, October 30, she was spotted strolling around New York in an outfit that combined all her favorite designers. A master of slouchy dressing, the “Big Little Lies” star went braless in a semi-sheer white T-shirt paired with the most perfect pair of navy blue wide-leg jeans we've ever seen. Her exact jeans have yet to be identified, but they look just like A.P.C.'s Elizabeth Jeans.

The brown tortoiseshell sunglasses and black shoulder bag were both courtesy of Saint Laurent, which makes sense given her long relationship with the brand as a model and ambassador. And, as befits the Yankees' success in the World Series, she finished off her look with a baseball cap and a navy blue, long-line, drop-shoulder barn jacket. From afar, the coat was a contrasting color of brown or black leather, which seemed to work well with The Row's chunky black ankle boots.

The barn jacket trend is a workwear staple traditionally associated with traditional brands like Barbour and L.L. Bean, but with celebrity endorsements like Katie Holmes and Haley Bieber, and the spring 2023 and 2024 seasons Loewe and Prada are currently enjoying a revival on the runway thanks to designer nodes at Kravitz's take is perhaps the most understated, saved by the pearl drop earrings she added as a noble touch. [But we can all agree that Zoë Kravitz wears her heartbreak beautifully.
