Princess Kate and Prince William faced a very difficult year. After Prince Charles and Kate Middleton revealed that they had been diagnosed with cancer, Prince William was asked to assume greater responsibility on behalf of the royal family. However, according to royal experts, Prince William and Queen Kate have found a new bond with King Charles amidst the difficult news.

Commenting on Prince William's difficult situation, a royal source told The Sun, “Prince William's wife and father both had surgery and then both were diagnosed with cancer. It has been difficult.”

Princess Kate has reportedly always had a close relationship with her father-in-law. However, their connection was reportedly strengthened when she was diagnosed with cancer shortly after King Charles.

A source explained to The Sun, “They are very close and he considers Princess Catherine like a daughter.”

As for how their close bond developed throughout 2024, the source told the magazine, “They are two patients with a shared health experience.”

The royal family has kept much of their health journey a secret, and Kate and Charles have often sought to understand each other. Sources explained, “They must have a close connection.”

Royal biographer Robert Jobson discusses Kate's role as a peacemaker within the royal family in his book, A Biography of Catherine: A Biography of the Future Queen.

“An instinctive peacemaker, . She paved the way for William and his father to have a better relationship than in the past,” Jobson writes (via The Sun).

And according to Jobson, Princess Kate brightens whenever Prince Charles sees her. Jobson claims that “when he sees her at family functions, his eyes light up, and they always approach each other with a glance.”

While 2024 has undoubtedly been a difficult year for the royal family, Kate, William, and Charles seem to have supported each other through the difficult times.
