Princess Kate Middleton's college friend posts unpublished photo

A former college friend of Kate Middleton's has shared an unpublished photo of the Duchess of Wales in praise of her.

In July, Middleton's former classmate Laura Wershauer shared a candid photo of the two when they were students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

“Sending love to Kate Middleton, future Queen of England, and my college dormmates!”

[7 Warschauer captioned the post at the time. 'This is us at a frat party on Hope Street. I have the best memories of Kate from college. She was the kindest, most caring, honest and genuine person and it's incredible to see her shine so bright and encourage the world with her compassion and courage.”

In July, Middleton was undergoing chemotherapy for an unspecified type of cancer, which may have prompted Walshauer's post.

Recently, Warshauer re-shared the post via his Instagram Stories, along with an unpublished photo of the two posing when they were college roommates.

In the photo, the Princess of Wales, wearing a navy blue polo shirt and a Nike baseball cap, poses with her arm around Warschauer.

This is not the first time Warschauer has opened up about her college days with Princess Kate and her now husband, Prince William, in this post.

In 2022, Warschauer revealed that while in college, and before going public with their relationship, Middleton posted as William's “fake girlfriend” and sometimes stood in as his so-called “wingwoman.”

“Will was really hit on by that girl at the party, and he couldn't shake her off, so he was getting pretty uncomfortable. He was being really polite, but this girl didn't get the hint,” Walshauer said at the time, adding that Princess Kate intervened at that moment.

“All of a sudden, Kate came up behind him and put her arm around him. He said, 'Oh, sorry, but I have a girlfriend,' and he and Kate giggled and left.”

Warschauer added that “Kate was the only girl in the room who could do that,” and that the incident happened just “a month after we started college.”

For those who don't know, Middleton and Prince William met while in college; in 2019, Marcia Moody, author of Kate: A Biography, described the moment they first met.

“The campus was small, Kate and William were in the same course and lived in the same building, so it wasn't long before they first met. Kate later recalled, 'I turned bright red and scuttled off, very embarrassed,'” Moody reported at the time, adding that Kate ‘knew there was something’ she wanted to explore romantically, but that the two ”ended up being friends for a while.”

“They bumped into each other several times, and it was clear from very early on that they liked each other,” Moody wrote.

“They joked around and hit it off on common ground.
