Queen Camilla reportedly breaks royal protocol with fan during Australian tour
Queen Kamila and King Charles are currently on a royal tour of Australia and Samoa.
On Sunday, October 20, Empress Charles and Queen Camilla visited St. Thomas' Anglican Church in Sydney, Australia, to sign the country's first official Bible and joint prayer book. Outside the church, Queen Camilla greeted fans and took selfies.
“There are no royal rules on selfies, but it is generally discouraged for members of the royal family to pose for selfies,” the Express reported. Of course, it is possible that the rules regarding selfies have been relaxed since Prince Charles took the throne. However, the report suggests that royal family selfies are still quite rare and not a common practice.
The King and Queen had initially planned a three-week trip that included Fiji and New Zealand. However, due to King Charles' ongoing cancer treatment, the royal family cut short their official visit.
Charles and Camilla's royal tour of Australia and Samoa was received favorably by most of the public. However, according to the New York Times, the couple's trip has also faced some anti-monarchy sentiment, with Australian Senator Lydia Thorpe hurling abuse at the King in Parliament.
The couple flew separately to Australia, but “People” reported that Queen Camilla took an extra break during the long flight from England.
“Queen Camilla is said to have a phobia of flying and has previously interrupted her trip by leaving early for a royal tour and stopping at her favorite spa,” the outlet reported.
According to People, Camilla favors the Soukya Holistic Health Center near Bangalore, India. Described as a “residential health care facility,” the Soukya Holistic Health Center “focuses on ‘healing, prevention, and rejuvenation’ through naturopathy, homeopathy, yoga, and Ayurveda.”
