Prince Charles caught off guard by an unusual royal fan in Australia.

King Charles and Queen Camilla encountered many Australians during their tour of Australia this week, but on October 21 they met an unexpected fan who was dressed up for the occasion. Among the many royal fans gathered in front of the Australian War Memorial in Canberra was Hefner, a fuzzy white alpaca who likes to wear formal wear.

Dressed in a gold crown and tuxedo-like shirt, the dapper alpaca and his owner, Robert Fletcher, “waited patiently for hours” to meet Prince Charles, according to People. But once it was his turn to greet the king, he blew it. Literally.

“This is Hefner, he's a support animal,” Fletcher told King Charles. In a video shared on “X” by TV journalist Duncan Stone, he reached out to pet the alpaca's fluffy white coat.

Seemingly taken aback, His Majesty the King took the incident humorously and laughed as he moved to shake hands with others in the crowd. At least he didn't spit,” Fletcher said of the alpaca, named after Playboy founder Hugh Hefner.

Hefner shares one thing with King Charles. According to the magazine, the alpaca visits “charities and retirement homes” with its owner and is “well known throughout the Canberra region for his charitable work.”

Prince Charles has greeted many Aussie fans as well as meeting some of the fanciest royal fans since his arrival in the country on October 18. The King and Queen visited Sydney's iconic Opera House on Tuesday, October 22, where thousands gathered to catch a glimpse of the royal couple.

However, the King received a less-than-warm reception while addressing Parliament on Monday.

“You are not our king,” shouted Australian Aboriginal Senator Lydia Thorpe. 'Give us back our land. Give back what you stole from us."

Thorpe was evicted from the building, and other Australian leaders, such as former Senator Nova Perris, called the incident ”shameful and disrespectful.”
