Prince Charles and Queen Camilla recreate Meghan and Harry's famous Sydney Opera House photo
King Charles and Queen Camilla recently departed on a royal tour of Australia and Samoa. The couple's trip was originally scheduled to last three weeks, but was shortened to 10 days due to King Charles' cancer treatment.
On October 22, the fourth day of their trip, Prince Charles and Camilla followed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to the Sydney Opera House. In a photo taken on the steps outside the Sydney Opera House, Prince Charles and Camilla posed in a manner reminiscent of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Meghan and Harry appeared on the same steps during their own Australian royal tour on October 16, 2018. The Sussexes' visit to the Sydney Opera House was one of the most memorable moments captured by photographers on the tour.
Charles and Camilla were generally well received by the Australian public, although Australian Aboriginal Senator Lydia Thorpe protested the King's presence in Parliament.
Charles and Camilla's travels were hectic, but the couple tried to keep their own pace.
“Hello! reported that “Their Majesties decided to take a ‘rest day’ during the high-profile six-day trip, presumably to get used to the time difference and recharge their batteries before the hectic schedule.”
Meanwhile, a Buckingham Palace spokesman said of the trip, “As with any visit, we had to consider how best to ensure that Their Majesties' energies were kept in peak condition.”
Charles has already had several lively exchanges with royal fans during the tour. For example, during his trip to Australia, Prince Charles was asked if he would follow in the footsteps of his son, Prince Harry, and surf. Prince Charles, through “Hello! ' to which he reportedly replied, 'If I were younger.'
Prince Charles also met an alpaca at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.
