Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck can't seem to sell their $68 million mansion.
Jennifer Lopez's love may not “pay the bills,” but her mega-mansion certainly does. The 38,000-square-foot Los Angeles home she once shared with Ben Affleck has been on the market for 100 days as of October 21, and is unlikely to take off from the busy real estate market any time soon.
Lopez and Affleck filed for divorce in August after two years of marriage and purchased the house, known as Crestview Manor, in May 2023 for the easy price of $60.8 million. It has 12 bedrooms, 24 bathrooms, mountain views, a 12-car garage, a pool, a pickleball court, and all manner of other amenities. The couple listed the property on Zillow in July for a whopping $68 million, but as one can imagine, not many people are eager to spend nearly $70 million on a house.
In September, TMZ reported that the couple nearly sold the property, but after putting in a $64 million offer on the property, which was accepted by the “Let's Get Loud” singer and his former girlfriend, the potential buyer backed out of the deal. And now the house is still for sale. Meanwhile, Affleck reportedly purchased a $20.5 million Los Angeles home over the summer, and J.Lo is said to be considering buying the historic home of the late Max Azria, founder of BCBG.
Despite Crestview Manor being on the market for over three months, “Selling Sunset” star Jason Oppenheim told Realtor.com that in his professional opinion, the former couple need not worry.
“It would have been amazing for this house to sell in less than 100 days,” said the Oppenheim Group co-founder, adding that in his experience, “most homes of this size are on the market for six months, often much longer.”
Nevertheless, the luxury real estate expert noted that he does not believe the former power couple will get their asking price. Oppenheim said, “They're likely to sell the house for somewhere in the $58 million to $60 million range, so they could lose millions of dollars on the sale.”
Another issue is the location of homes subject to a special “mansion tax.” The reality star noted that because Crestview Manor is “in the Beverly Hills Post Office area and technically in the City of Los Angeles (rather than the independent City of Beverly Hills),” Lopez and Affleck “would have to pay over $3 million in mansion taxes.”
In other words, the former couple “could lose another $5 million or more after fees and taxes,” Oppenheim told Realtor.com. Fortunately, J.Lo won an Oscar and is reportedly planning a 2025 comeback that will include a tour and a new album.
