Sarah Jessica Parker endorses Kamala Harris “for a certain childless cat lady she plays on TV.”
Sarah Jessica Parker has announced her support for Vice President Kamala Harris.
On October 23, the actress released a photo of a Harris/Waltz sign in her window, presumably to encourage fans to vote for the Democratic ticket in the upcoming presidential election.
“For the love of my country,” Parker began, before listing all the other reasons she made this choice. 'For the public schools. For books. For common sense gun control. For a living wage. For opportunity. For women. For the right to vote. For Dreamers. For arts and culture. For mothers and the elderly. For the Armed Forces, past and present. For climate. For hope. for friends and loved ones in the LGBTQ+ community. For freedom. For science. For affordable health care. For union membership. For democracy. For our daughters. For our sons. For all children. For equality. For dignity. For hope. For the Constitution. For me. For love. For choice.
And “And for a certain childless cat lady I play on television. With joy, optimism and pride, I vote for Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz.”
Parker underscored this point by having one of her cats in the picture. Incidentally, the actress who plays Carrie Bradshaw in “And Just Like That...” has a cat named Shoe in “And Just Like That...” and she, too, has no children.
In real life, Parker and her husband Matthew Broderick actually have a cat actor (whose real name is Lotus) who plays Shoe. They also have two other cats named Remy and Smilla and share a 21-year-old son James.
In case you're wondering, the “childless cat lady” was a comment J.D. Vance once made about Vice President Harris, and since then, Taylor Swift, Stevie Nicks, Aubrey Plaza, Oprah Winfrey, and others have have appropriated it in their endorsements of Harris.
