Katie Holmes' Broadway commuting essentials: a classic fall shacket and burgundy ballet shoes

Katie Holmes took to the sidewalk to show off her weekday commuting essentials before taking the stage in “Our Town” at Broadway's Barrymore Theatre on October 23.

Perhaps “showing off” is not the right word. It is hard to imagine that Holmes was trying to create a fall fad on her way to work. But the camera follows her wherever she goes. Last night, it was a fall utility mood with a ballet core.

With her frequently carried Bevza tote slung over her shoulder and her face hidden by Secret Mode sunglasses, Holmes arrived at the stage door wearing one of fall's trending denim pieces (wide-leg jeans) layered with a classic fall shacket. The skirt/jacket hybrid popped over a plain black T-shirt and kept the carefree energy that Holmes is leaning toward, including the quilted jackets and oversized shirts she's been wearing around town this month. Uni Bouffat's burgundy ballet shoes, designed to look like pointed shoes with square toes, could have joined Katie on stage, but she seemed to have left them backstage.

Katie Holmes' appearance in “Our Town” has only just begun, but she has already succeeded in walking the stage door with a new step-and-repeat. After appearing at the official premiere in a dramatic black gown and wet hairstyle, the actor is bringing casual cool to her daily Broadway commute. Before last night's shackette and ballet shoe duo, Holmes layered a chunky open-front cardigan over lightweight jeans on his way to the theater. The ballet shoes were a collaboration between Holmes and A.P.C.

The run of “Our Town” continues at the Barrymore Theatre through January 19, 2025. Read between the lines: fans can look forward to three more glorious months of Katie Holmes' casual style reinterpreted for a Broadway run. And since Katie is Katie, it won't be only on Broadway that her flair for relaxed, flared jeans and layered fall jackets will be on display.
