Princess Diana relied on a “revolving door” of “clairvoyants, psychics, and spiritual advisors” in her marital troubles.
Princess Diana and Prince Charles may have had the royal wedding of the century in 1981, but as is now well known, cracks in their marriage began to appear early. Prince Charles is said to have begun an affair with Camilla Parker Bowles (now Queen Camilla) in 1986. As the fairy-tale marriage crumbled, Princess Diana sought guidance in an unlikely place: the mystical world of “spiritual advisors.”
“Over the years, Diana walked through a revolving door of astrologers, faith healers, numerologists, tarot card readers, clairvoyants, psychics, and ‘spiritual advisors,’” Christopher Andersen, author of The King, revealed in a recent interview with Fox News. In an interview with Fox News, he revealed.
According to Andersen, many of these consultants only confirmed what Diana already suspected about her husband's affair with Camilla: “Most . . told her what she already knew: that her husband was having an affair with an old lover,” he noted.
The fact that the princess had come to rely on spiritual guidance spoke to her deep emotional conflicts. One royal source told royal writer Sally Bedell Smith (via Vanity Fair), “In the late 80s and early 90s, she was seeing all kinds of people. They come and go, and I don't know how they got there, but once you get into that scene, it's a cry for help.”
“Vanity Fair” also noted how the late Princess Diana sought treatments like “colon cleansing, reflexology, aromatherapy, acupuncture, and hypnosis” in an attempt to find “comfort and guidance.”
Diana, who exhibited many of the characteristics of her zodiac sign, Cancer, had turned to astrology as early as the mid-1980s. Her interest in alternative therapies was apparently brought about by her brother-in-law, Prince Andrew, and his wife, Sarah Ferguson.
In 1986, the Duke and Duchess of York “introduced Diana to astrologer Penny Thornton, who was discouraged by her failed marriage to Prince Charles and the pressures of royal life.” This timeline coincided with the alleged start of Prince Charles and Camilla's affair, a time when Diana was supposedly searching for answers from all sources.
Former royal bodyguard Ken Whorf also stated in Tina Brown's book, “The Diana Chronicles,” that “Diana was under the control of crazy psychics.”
Some saw Princess Diana's interest in metaphysics as evidence of her weakness, while others saw it as a natural response to her isolation within the royal family.
“My intention in our first meeting was to provide a means of transforming her situation from a passive victim to an active member of the royal family, equal to her husband,” Thornton said through Vanity Fair magazine. The astrologer added that he “suggested” that the princess take her pain and use it to “relate to others who are suffering as well.”
“I think we can say it worked,” Thornton concluded.
