Martha Stewart may be the queen of all things, but this year she has transformed into Halloween royalty. The lifestyle guru poses on the cover of the annual Halloween magazine in a costume inspired by the coronation of Queen Elizabeth I, looking downright regal in a sparkling gold gown and white lace ruffle.
In a press release, the 83-year-old Stewart writes: “I'm so happy to be here! As they well know, I really love to dream up great costumes and get into the spirit of it. I have dressed up as many different characters over the years, but never as royalty”
.
She declared the “end result” to be a costume that was “fun and easy to make,” adding that she felt the gown was “regal and elegant to wear.” And while her accessories-like the very royal gold scepter and orb-seem expensive, it turned out to be an easy DIY project.
According to the magazine's tutorial, her scepter was actually made from a curtain rod, and the orb was made from a giant plastic holiday ornament that doubles as a candy dish. Her crown” Amazon Bargains.
But the glamorous star wore real sparkle, opting for dramatic gold earrings and a coordinating necklace designed by Sabyasachi.
The media mogul recently told Vogue that she plans to wear the costume in real life as well as on magazine covers. 'I could be Queen Elizabeth,' she said. I have that beautiful costume hanging in my basement. But I have to tie my hair up. It took me a long time to get my hair done.
As for her Halloween traditions, the celebrity chef told Vogue magazine that trick-or-treating comes with a special surprise. 'I live on a farm now, so the gates are always decorated and the guards have to open them for the trick-or-treating kids. I always give the kids a bag of assorted candies and a little cash.” Signature:
Aside from the regal costumes, Stewart recently confessed about a role she doesn't want to step into. When asked by “Watch What Happens Live” host Andy Cohen if she would appear in “The Golden Bachelorette,” the cookbook author said, “Absolutely not.”
In fact, she told Cohen that she would not do it even for $1 million an episode.
The queen spoke.
