Selena Gomez has “big goals” when it comes to helping people with their mental health.

At a Rare Impact Fund benefit on Thursday, the activist shared why her work in this area is just beginning and what it means to her.

“Life is so complicated and so varied that sometimes you need someone to say, ‘I feel you,’ or ‘Me too,’” Gomez told E! News. 'And then we can actually connect and hopefully create something beautiful out of it.' Whatever that is."

”My dream is to help people who are thinking bad things get to where the resources are. So I have big goals and big dreams.

Gomez's Rare Impact Fund is tied to her beauty brand, Rare Beauty, which works to bring resources and education to those struggling with mental health. One percent of the proceeds from Rare Beauty sales go to the fund.

“This is probably the most important thing I do with my time, and not just for this event,” Gomez told People on Thursday. It's not just about this event,” Gomez told People on Thursday. We have built a community with Rare. We hope we've helped people feel less alone.

Relatedly, Gomez's best mental health advice is: “Try not to isolate yourself,” she told People. 'I think it's important to have alone time, but if you isolate yourself, sometimes those feelings can build up. And if you can find one person that you can trust and confide in, and if you can actually trust that information, just sharing can really help."[13

Styled by Erin Walsh for the occasion, Gomez wore a stunning asymmetrical black gown by Oscar de la Renta, along with pointed black patent stilettos and many rings.

As well as her work with the Rare Impact Fund, the “Only Murderers in the Building” star helps stigmatize mental health through Wonder Mind, a platform she co-founded with her mother, Mandy Teefey.

Mental health is personal for Gomez, who has often revealed that she has lived with bipolar disorder for many years, especially through her 2022 documentary My Mind and Me.
