Why Prince William is unlikely to leave the UK while Prince Charles is in Australia
King Charles is currently on a royal tour of Australia and Samoa with his wife, Queen Camilla. However, Prince William will not be flying anywhere while his father is out of the country.
Prince William's children (Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis) are enjoying two weeks of school vacation on Halloween. Prince William and his wife, Princess Kate, could technically take their children on vacation, but the Prince of Wales seems to take his duties as heir apparent very seriously.
Ingrid Sward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, explained why Prince William does not want to travel outside of England until King Charles returns. I think they are in Norfolk, not Mustique, because the King is out of the country,” Sward told The Sun of Kate and William's fabulousness. William is a national advisor, so he needs to be in the U.K. when his father is not around.”
In 2022, Princess Anne and Prince Edward also became State Counselors, allowing them to fill in for King Charles in his absence. As a result, members of the royal family other than William could handle official business in Prince Charles' absence.
“So, strictly speaking, William doesn't have to be here. He could go abroad, but (that) may not be wise at this particular time.”
The official Royal Family website also lists Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice, and Prince Andrew as possible advisors of state to represent Prince Charles. It seems likely, at least for now, that Prince William will remain in the UK until Prince Charles returns home.
Former rugby player Mike Tindall, who is married to Princess Anne's daughter, Zara Tindall, recently revealed on his podcast about the arrival of Princess Kate and Prince William.
In an excerpt from his book “The Good, the Bad & the Rugby-Unleashed,” which appeared in the Daily Mail, Tindall explained, “I've always thought they were boring people. Not because I thought they were boring people (I already knew they were not boring people), but because I knew how carefully controlled matters concerning the royal family were.”
He also added, “I think the podcast humanized them a little bit.
