Prince William Shares Rare Comments About Princess Diana and Prince Harry in New Documentary
In a new documentary titled “Prince William: We Can End Homelessness,” Prince William shares personal stories about his late mother, Princess Diana, and his brother, Prince Harry.
Princess Diana's support of The Passage, a homeless support group, had a profound impact on Prince William as a child. He said, “When I was very young, my mother started talking to me about homelessness, and she said, ‘You know, I don't think you should be homeless.’ Just like I talk about it now with my children in school care,” he revealed in a new clip from the ITV and ITVX documentary. [My mother took me to Passage. My mother took Harry and me there. I think I was about 11 at the time, maybe 10. I had never been there before. I was a little nervous about what was going to happen."
[4Diana's invaluable support for charities such as The Passage had a profound impact on both William and Harry and led the two brothers to become avid supporters of charity work.
William revealed in the documentary about his first visit to The Passage, “My mother, as usual, made everyone relaxed, laughing and joking. I remember thinking then that if everyone lost their homes, they would all be really sad,” he continued.
William was also struck by “how happy the environment” at The Passage, which provides assistance to people without housing in London.
“I remember having pleasant conversations, playing chess and chatting,” William recalled when he visited the charity as a child.
“That's when I realized that there were people out there who didn't have the same kind of life that I did.”
Since then, the Prince of Wales has dedicated himself to attempts to end homelessness, even becoming the royal patron of Passage.
“I feel that given my position and platform, I should make a difference,” William explained.
“I have spent enough time learning and listening to what people have gone through, and I feel that I can make a difference. As a result, he said, the Prince of Wales is “compelled to act” to make life better for others. He explained, “The construction of the project is the only way I can do it at the moment to alleviate [the problem] and help those who are disadvantaged or in very difficult circumstances.”
“Prince William: We Can End Homelessness” will air on ITV1 and ITVX, STV and STV Player on October 30 and 31 at 9 pm
