Five of Princess Kate's Best Royal Wear
Kate Middleton may have access to the world's best designers (and a palace-sized closet). From bags to shoes to her ever-popular Alexander McQueen separates, this royal wardrobe is definitely in full swing.
She often repeats evening gowns, and the royal has had them re-tailored into different items several times, like the black floral Alexander McQueen dress she wore to two different red carpet events.
The princess was known to wear L.K. Bennett's sledge heels in the nude when they were first married, so much so that there were posts begging her to actually stop wearing them. But hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Princess Kate is not the only member of the royal family who likes to wear the same things over and over. Princess Anne has always rocked outfits she's had since the 1970s, and Prince Philip has famously worn his wedding shoes for 74 years since he married Queen Elizabeth in 1947. Queen Camilla also shares the same traits as her late father-in-law, having worn her favorite Sole Bliss heels more than 80 times since purchasing them in 2018.
Below, we look back at the Crown Princess' best re-wears and show you how to achieve the same style.
When it comes to clutch bags, the princess has a clear favorite. She owns more than a dozen of Emmy London's sophisticated Natasha bags in every shade from pink to solid black. Whether it's Easter Sunday service or a major royal tour, you better believe she has an Emmy London clutch bag to match her attire. In fact, she has taken this design to over 15 events over the years.
Handmade in Portugal, the bag has a chic chain strap, but Kate prefers to carry it as a clutch. Not all shades are available yet, but you can still buy the royal fave bag in everything from shiny metallic silver to classic black suede.
A staple in the royal closet is the humble Zara blazer. This high-street favorite brand releases a variety of styles each season, and there is no doubt that the Crown Princess will be incorporating the jacket into her wardrobe. From bright greens to reds to creams, we haven't come across a ZARA blazer she doesn't love.
Princess Kate also re-wears the blazer with different looks, like the textured red blazer she first wore with a ruffled white blouse in Denmark, or the blazer she updated a year later with Boden flats and a tan sweater, items are successfully made to look fresh. Fortunately for royal fans, the retailer now offers a style nearly identical to the princess's white textured blazer, for less than $110.
Princess Kate adores shoes that are as comfortable as the next girl, even though she often dresses up. She has been wearing her trusty white canvas Superga 2750 Cotu sneakers since 2016, pairing them with shorts, jeans, and sweaters. She also takes her sneaker style cues from her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.
Given that Princess Diana and Princess Kate wore these shoes decades apart, this style is not going away anytime soon.
Kate has re-worn so many dresses that it is difficult to even list them all. Honestly, we could go on here all day, but one of my personal favorites is the pink Me+Em shirt dress she wore to meet 6-year-old cancer patient Mira Sneddon in 2021. The girl, now cancer-free, caught Princess Kate's eye during the pandemic when her photo was featured in the royal photo exhibition “Hold Still”. Princess Kate promised to wear pink when she met Mira, and she did.
The princess wore this silk shirtdress again at the 2023 Chelsea Garden Show, wearing her hair down and changing the mood with the same Catherine Zoraida fern earrings she repeated at her first post-chemotherapy event in October 2024.
Kate's exact dress is no longer available, but you can find several other styles in Barbie pink at Me+Em, one of the royal family's favorite brands.
Like Princess Diana, Kate has a favorite tiara. According to the Kate Middleton Style Blog, Princess Catherine has worn Queen Mary's Lover's Knot Tiara, with its dazzling diamond and pearl details, a whopping 11 times since 2015.
I bet you didn't think you could get one yourself, but fear not, good old Amazon still comes through. I bought a tiara exactly like this one in 2018 (because why not) and it has come in handy more times than you might think, appearing at Halloween, the Royal Zoom Meeting, and even an aisle trip for my cousin.
