Boudoir dressing is arguably the single biggest and most pervasive trend of our time, which first began around 2016 when the Kardashian sisters began pairing bustier tops with destroyed jeans during their regularly paparazzi walks. A few years later, visible thongs (led by Dua Lipa) began to catch on, and soon the nearly naked trend saturated the fashion scene.

Today, lingerie is showing up everywhere from the Met Gala to clubs to bridal occasions. While much of it comes from women's intimates (corsets, bustiers, embellished thongs, etc.), the latest arrivals come straight from the men's sector: the trending style for summer 2024 is none other than the humble boxer shorts.

Flaunting underwear has long been a menswear trend, but it has recently begun to gain traction in women's fashion as well. The gingham shorts, culled from the Scandigar starter pack in red, blue, and pink, have become a must-have item for chill girls around the world. And as the ultimate chill girl, Dua Lipa endorsed the look.

While on vacation with her family, the pop star spent a lot of time at the beach. In photos posted on her Instagram, she wore several bikinis, including a black set with white trim and a cherry-printed triangle top by Frankies Bikinis. The latter was her best beach day look, styled with navy check boxers by Meryll Rogge.

For a little more sun protection, the “Dance the Night” singer wore a matching top in the same gingham print as the neckline bow. The combination of checks and cherries is fun and something I'll try to copy as soon as I can.

The message here is clear: It's time to steal your partner's underwear.
