Prince William says he's ready to “break” windows at a recent royal event
Prince William may be an avid soccer fan (he is, after all, a patron of the English Football Association), but he joked that his skill at playing American football at an NFL Foundation UK event in London on Tuesday, October 15, may have compromised the windows of his historic Windsor home. may be in jeopardy, he joked.
During the event, the Prince of Wales, who was presented with an adorable miniature football by his three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, and a full-size ball for himself, said in a video shared by the Daily Mail, “Practice at home and see how many windows I need to practice at home and see how many windows I can break,” he joked.
The prince showed off his sporty side while playing with youngsters who participated in the NFL Foundation UK's flag football program. Trying to throw the football at the target, William failed on his first attempt, but succeeded in throwing it into the net.
“One out of two is fine. This is how I'm going to retire. This is my NFL career,” Prince of Wales told the crowd.
During the event, Prince William was reunited with former Welsh rugby player Lewis Rees-Zammit of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the NFL convert paid serious tribute to the royal performance.
“He can throw the ball better than I can,” Rees-Zammit declared, “and he can put a good spiral on the ball, too.
The event highlighted the partnership between UK community organizations and the NFL Foundation, using flag football as a tool for positive change. The sport is set to debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, and Prince William learned how flag football is gaining popularity and helping disadvantaged youth develop confidence.
Perhaps we will see Prince William at the next Super Bowl after this sporty day.
