Ashley Graham Explains Why She “Hesitated” to Appear in Victoria's Secret Fashion Show
Ashley Graham has shared her true feelings with fans about the process that led to her receiving an invitation to walk in the 2024 Victoria's Secret fashion show.
“When @victoriassecret first reached out to me, I have to admit I hesitated,” the supermodel wrote on Instagram on October 16.
“For years, the brand didn't feel like it was made for someone like me. Their vision of beauty seemed narrow, as if everything they created was only for a certain type of body, which wasn't mine."
[6 [But after sitting down with the VS leadership, I saw a real change. They were excited to have me on the show and assured me that this was not just a one-time thing. Curve models are not just symbols, VS genuinely wants to be part of the body diversity revolution”.
“They shared their commitment to embracing body diversity in a lasting and meaningful way.” [So I said yes. I said yes to represent all of us and to show up for all the bodies that have felt unseen. And it is a journey I am proud to walk.”
Jamila Jamil, another body image advocate, commented, “You were THE moment.”
Gigi Hadid, another VS Angel, wrote, “You took my breath away ash xxx.”
