Nicolas Coughlan says being called a “plus-size heroine” for his role in “Bridgerton” is “insulting.”

Nicola Coughlan is fed up with comments about her body after starring in Season 3 of Bridgerton.

While speaking to TIME for a new cover story and promoting the Netflix series with co-star Luke Newton, the Irish actress addressed the endless questions she received about her body, especially regarding Coughlan shooting nude scenes, ” addressed the use of the word “brave.

“Don't call me brave. I have great boobs.”

”I'm not brave. Nothing brave about it, it's just showing off my boobs.”

When I explained my reasons for opposing such discourse, Coughlan continued. “I'm a few sizes below the average British woman and I'm seen as a 'plus-size heroine. I worked so hard for that show. I hardly saw my family and friends, and they all just said, 'But your body is ......'. '"

These comments were made in the context of the show, and were not intended as a comment on the show.

On whether these comments could be interpreted as compliments, the Delhi Girls alum said It is reductive and boring to make an issue of how I look. If I suddenly played a ballerina or lost a shitload of weight, would you hate me?

Coughlan responded to the topic of her body several times during the promotion of Bridgerton's latest season.

Speaking to Stylist in May, she revealed that being “very naked” on the show was her decision. 'I felt like the biggest “fuck you” to all the conversations surrounding my body. It was amazingly empowering.”

Later that month, she told theSkimm, “We had a lot of control and chose how naked we were.”

She added, “People said she did it to show off her body-shamers. But I didn't do it. I did it completely selfishly. I did it because I wanted to, and there is incredible power in that."

By June, Coughlan seemed fed up with this discourse and chose to deflect with humor. She said, “I think it's because I don't think women with my body type, i.e., perfect bust, see enough of themselves on screen. 'And I'm very proud to be a part of the perfect bust community. I hope you all get to see it.” Tell them, Nick
