Meghan Markle Reveals She Shops at Uniqlo Just for Clare Waight Keller Designs

When fashion fans around the world queued up online for Clare Waight Keller's collaboration with Uniqlo, it appears that Duchess Meghan Markle was in line to shop alongside them.

In a New York Times profile of Clare Waight Keller published on October 17, Meghan Markle is cited as one of the biggest fans of Keller's work for the editorially popular basic brand. The Duchess of Sussex told the magazine that she owns “several” of the Uniqlo items Keller presented in the collaboration.

Markle said she owns several of Clare Waight Keller's Uniqlo dresses and trench coats (unfortunately, she did not reveal which ones specifically).

The Duchess' endorsement is the first by a big name for the new design era at Uniqlo. In September, UNIQLO announced that Clare Waight Keller, former creative director of Givenchy and recent collaborator with Reformation Jewelry, would take the helm as its first avant-garde creative director. Keller, who royal fans know, famously designed Markle's Givenchy wedding dress in 2018; the two have reportedly been in close contact ever since. Markle told the NYT that they still share a “beautiful friendship.”

Uniqlo is one of several mid-tier fashion brands that have been coveted in Meghan Markle's post-throne wardrobe. She has worn everything from J.Crew button-down shirts and collarless jackets to Reformation dresses over the years, often mixing in luxury pieces like her customary Aquazzura pumps and Cartier necklaces.

Meghan Markle has yet to be photographed wearing one of Keller's Uniqlo designs. Based on my years of following her style, I took the liberty of shopping for a few pieces I could imagine hanging in the Duchess's closet until she actually wore the items she owns and adorns Step & Repeat and Polo Green.

Believe me, when she finally wears Clare Waight Keller for Uniqlo in public, it will sell out instantly.
