Dua Lipa in a cherry red corset gown and merlot cape for an intimate concert in London
Dua Lipa appeared more elegant than ever in a cherry red corset gown at London's Royal Albert Hall for an intimate concert as part of her Radical Optimism tour. 53-piece orchestra, 14-piece choir, and a seven-piece band instead of dancers, the British pop star sang soulful renditions of pop music hits such as “Training Season,” “Be the One,” and “Levitating.”
Typically, Dua Lipa dresses as if she were heading to a club right after a show. Whether on or off stage, most of her outfits tend to favor studded leather, lingerie-like black lace, and strategic cutouts. But her outfit for the October 17 evening performance reflected the stately atmosphere of the historic venue. Standing in the center of a swirling custom-made catwalk, she performed in a fiery red bustier dress with a sweetheart neckline, bonded bodice, and bold thigh-high slit.
Styled and commissioned by Lorenzo Posocco, with whom Dua Lipa has worked for years, the dress was adorned with a merlot cape and burgundy opera gloves. The look was a testament to the bright red trend that dominated last year and the burgundy trend that is slowly replacing it. Lily Collins, Jenna Ortega, Jennifer Lawrence, and Kinta Branson have all been spotted incorporating shades of black cherry and pinot noir in recent weeks. The shades made a big splash on the fall 2024 runways of Tory Burch, Prada, and Ferragamo, and the spring 2024 runways of Gucci and Bottega Veneta.
Dua's red-hot look appears to be a modern take on a gown from Jean Paul Gaultier's Spring 2001 Couture collection, which debuted in Paris. The original design was blush pink, accompanied by a gorgeous black cape and bright red opera gloves.
Dua, of course, put her own spin on the archival design by pairing it with oxblood ankle-strap stiletto heels and Old Hollywood-style brunette waves.
Near the end of her set, she invited Elton John on stage for a duet of her 2021 single “Cold Heart” before changing into a black ballgown-style two-piece set adorned with silver chain hardware, a fluffy feather collar, and a sheer tulle skirt. To see the stunning second look, you'll have to watch the concert clip, but luckily, TikTok has already covered it for us.
