Claudia Schiffer shines in the rainbow-striped cashmere sweater of her dreams.

Claudia Schiffer looked like a colorful ray of sunshine at a family dinner in Beverly Hills. The German model, who recently shot the campaign for Haley Bieber's latest Rohde Launch, was joined by her children and husband Matthew Vaughn for dinner at celebrity hot spot E Baldi on Thursday, October 17.

Her look eschewed fall trends in favor of a rainbow-striped sweater reminiscent of Gap's iconic Y2K candy stripe turtleneck. In writer Liana Satenstein's paean to the sweater for Vogue, former Gap employee Michael Byes recalls. “Gap's tagline for the 2000 holiday season was 'The holidays are here,' and nothing epitomized that sentiment better than the chunky turtleneck sweater. This thick cotton item was a big change for Gap. In previous seasons, Gap had offered a sleeker silhouette, so this item appealed to a wider range of customers, in terms of age and body type.”

Decades later, the cotton-blend sweater made a comeback when influencer Devon Lee Carlson wore it with denim overalls and a colorful patchwork Chanel shoulder bag in December 2020.

Schiffer's precise sweaters are not vintage gapes scavenged from the depths of Depop. The ribboned cashmere knit, courtesy of The Elder Statesman, is luckily still available, and the 90s supermodel paired it with wide-leg jeans, brown suede sandals, and a brown leather bucket bag. The designer of this bag has yet to be identified, but you can find similar options at Il Bisonte, Strathberry, and Madewell.

In true 90s It Girl fashion, Schiffer styled her look with little to no jewelry other than a gold heart-shaped ring and a gold heart pendant necklace. However, she did try the naked manicure trend favored by fellow models Kaia Gerber, Kendall Jenner, and Gigi Hadid. Of course, Schiffer's best accessory is her signature butter blonde hair. I've been coveting this particular shade of rich-girl blonde for years, and these images, along with Jenner's recent Caroline Bessette Kennedy-inspired hair transformation, have officially convinced me to take the plunge for fall and winter.
